This pair of handbags features Victoria Wood's original canvas and crewel embroidery work, designed and stitched as part of her course of study at the Royal School of Needlework. She received her Certificate, with merit, in 2000.
While completing her degree in Accessories Design at NYC's Fashion Institute of Technology*, Victoria learned the mix of art, craft and technical expertise to transform her embroidery into handbags as well as shoes.
The handle of antique coral beads and flap lining of orange snakeskin complement the swimming needlepoint goldfish on the flap of the navy leather envelope bag (left). The leather and linen wristbag (right) received Honorable Mention at the Woodlawn National Needlework Show.
*Graduated 2001, Summa Cum Laude, awarded departmental medal of achievement for 1-year program.
